West England Chess Congress
April 14th - 17th 2017
Royal Beacon Hall, Exmouth
Over the weekend three club players entered the West England Chess Congress at Exmouth. A very good performance indeed by our senior member David Burt, who won the Minor event with a score of 5/7, sharing top spot with two other players.Paul Errington was only one point behind David going into last round, but a draw by David secured his very exciting win.
In the Major Paul Jackson put up a very good display, scoring 3.5 / 7. He was out-graded in nearly every game, so he played better than expected. A person in his section with same name, 30 points higher on grading list, was only able to draw with our Paul. A joke before the match... but proved a decisive game.
A most enjoyable and exhausting weekend for everyone.
