52nd Dorset Open
Friday 13-15th October 2017
Elmstead Hotel, Bournemouth
Two players represented Bournemouth in the 52nd Dorset Open this year. Firstly Paul Jackson played in the Major tournament, doing well with a score of 2/5. His grade put him for first time in major level chess, where usually you would find him playing at intermediate level, as one of strongest players. This time his grade may have been at bottom of the pack, yet he was only beaten once over the weekend. A three draw recorded is very good result indeed. Roy Egginton played in the Intermediate section with a score of 2/5, winning his last game. He ended with a respectable score, bearing in mind this is open tournament chess and entries come from all over country. We wish him well next Tuesday in his next league match in Division 2.
